1931 Seagrave Fire Engine

The Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department of Old Greenwich, CT acquired this pumper in July 1931 for $13,000 from the Seagrave Fire Apparatus Co. Unlike the Dept. engines before it, Engine 3 contained a booster tank which for the first time carried water instead of chemicals. It remained in service until 1964, when it was sold to a collector in Clarion, Pa. The engine was reacquired by SBVFD firefighters in 1979 for $5,000, and a six-year refurbishing followed. This finely-crafted replica has captured all the details - right down to the clam shell decorations on the engine hood covers.  Not bad for $19.95 from Motor Mint Diecast Collectibles
