We finally have a breakthrough concerning this project’s
tooling issues. The fundamental problem was that we had
damaged tooling that stopped production. We worked through
a difficult, but successful cooperation with our factory
to overcome the financial repercussions of the tooling
issue. For those of you interested in tooling, you can see
the problem parts identified with boxes drawn around them
in these pictures.
Thankfully, we have reached a compromise in order to bring
these projects to market. TWH is helping defray the cost
of the original tooling rework estimate, while the factory
is reducing the initial run size requirement to only 300
pieces each for the DFW International Airport and
Miami-Dade engines. The factory is allowing us to pay upon
delivery so that we can reset the distribution collector
confidence lost because of the delays.
Our apologies to Pierce, the Miami-Dade and DFW
International Airport departments for this delay.
Additionally, we apologize to our valued customers that
have been disappointed by this extended delay.
The good news is the factory time schedule looks solid
(shipping summer of 2012) now that we have broken this
constraint. I will keep you informed throughout this
process. |
