Discription:
HO diorama of an US fire station in the mid 30's. Building was made out of two Heljan kits of their US Town Square series. The apparatus bays were made using walls of HO bridge parts, and many HO detail parts. The fireman are made by Merten, and the civilians are from Preiser. All the fire apparatus were made using Jordan HO kits. The Ahrens fox pumper was altered by placing the men on the truck and turning the front wheels. The Mack AC Bulldog pumper was made using the standard Jordan kit of a civilian truck and the hose body of the Ahrens Fox, which was left over after building the Ahrens Fox TDA. The Squad Co, and the Hose wagon were made from left over parts of other Jordan kits and many other spare parts. The chiefs buggy was a civilian model which was only painted and lettered as a Fire Chief

Making it a three story rather than the present twIt's a multi-piece firehouse built in Corgi scale, 1/50 to 1/55. Roof comes off to display the apparatus inside and there are a variety of pieces that fit on the roof, like antennas, stacks, trash etc.. It is now displayed at the Utah Fire Museum as a Chicago firehouse. I built a Plexiglas cabinet with three levels to display it. It's roughly 18" by 20" and stands 15" high. The case itself is 24" in all dimensions. Takes up a goodly piece of floor space in the museum! Future plans include more detail in the engine bay and a new second story featuring quarters and offices for the firefighters stationed there.

A passing thunder storm has left the streets very wet and slippery. A major MVA has occurred between a school bus and a trailer tractor on Main St. The town's Volunteer FD has made a full response and rescue efforts are under way. Hose lines have been laid and fire fighters are ready in case fire breaks out. Only steam from the bus radiator is showing. The tower ladder is ready to put down a main stream on the wreck or assist in the rescue. A helicopter has been brought in to help evacuate victims to a local hospital. Most of the apparatus in the scene are very similar to what the town really has and have been kitbashed for town name and numbers. A rail line used to run through town and a small section of it has been preserved in the town center. The background scenery is very similar to what we really have here.

My Diorama is based on the FDNY. I used Code 3 fire trucks and a selection of other 1-64 scale vehicles which I bought from Diecast Direct. The buildings fronts are made from resin from Trainstuff LLC. I kit bashed 2 of the buildings to give me two high rise apartment blocks. I have used HO Scale power poles and street lights which I have extended, I also used O scale accessories which I cut down. Hose was made from cotton string and the fire-fighter figures are from the Code 3 Burning Building Diorama.  I added water to the display by using a glue that when dried goes clear. Smoke was made from cotton wool. The display measures 33 inch long by 17 inch wide and 12 inch high.

This is a HO Scale Diorama of an Apartment Bldg. Fire. The House and Macks CF Rigs are from IHC while the other vehicle are form Busch. The Firefighters come from many different companies. They are currently running several 1 3/4" Lines into the house along with Roof Operations. EMS is preparing for victims to be brought out and Patrol has secured the area. (The bike is from Micro-Machines.) This is my first Diorama and hopefully not my last.

Upon the arrival of the newly purchased Seagrave/Aerialscope/Marion 75’ tower ladder from FDNY (Ex-TL 18), designated 631, the members of Gables Corner Fire Department decided to have photographs of their equipment taken at Naval Air Station Fremont. Engine  612, a 1993 Seagrave 1000/500, is a recently rehabbed FDNY piece that is  still awaiting some finishing touches (Ex-E 214). Brush 645 is a Ford F-450  with EVI bodywork, 500/250, which has been reassigned as a rescue due to a  pump failure two weeks prior. Last is GCFD’s Assistant Chief’s car, 603,  which is a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria received (extremely used) from the Ohio
State Highway Patrol in 1999. NAS Fremont Base Police and Fire vehicles (Ford CV and Ford F-150 XLT) can be seen in the background along with a few base personnel. These units are all pictured with a 1994 McDonald Douglas  F/A-18A Hornet. As a note, 631 will be shipped to Appleton, WI to be  rehabbed by Pierce with a 2004 Dash cab, a Waterous 1250 gpm pump, a 300
gallon tank, and extensive body manipulation after 611, a 2003 Pierce Saber 1500/750 pumper is received sometime this year.
