The
video below displays the disrespect of the United States flag by
unsuccessful thieves in Plano, TX.
Three
young men entered the neighborhood at 12:35 A.M. CDT in a blue car.
They ran over to the statue with the American flag and attempted to steal
the statue and desecrated the American flag. They were laughing
throughout the entire act of vandalism. At one point, one of the
vandals’ proceeded to stomp on the flag while continuing to laugh.
In a
last act of defiance, one of the unsuccessful thieves kicked a yard light
across the lawn. Interestingly enough, they repeatedly returned to
the site of the crime and finally exited into the alley next to our house.
TO
THE PARENTS OF THESE UNSUCCESSFUL THIEVES...
I am a
Vietnam combat veteran and understand what this American flag represents.
I hope
you are disappointed in the conduct of your teens and demand they step up
and take responsibility for their actions now.
UPDATE - 10/24/2013
First,
thank you for all the emails and support.
These young men or their parents have not come forward and at this
point, I doubt they will. However,
once I get the repair hardware from the “Tube Dude” gallery in Sarasota,
FL, my fellow veterans and I will reset the Dude along with the American
flag.

UPDATE - 11/11/2013
- VETERANS DAY
Neither the
teens nor their parents came forward. I find it hard to believe with
all the coverage this has received. As Arthur Doyle wrote "I have
frequently gained my first real insight into the character of parents by
studying their children."
The
"Dude" is back up just in time for Veterans Day. I want to
thank ALL veterans for their military service.
