Code 3
Collectibles First Quarter 2004 Releases By: Glenn Morson , Associate Webmaster |
Code 3 Collectibles Fire and Rescue Previews 2004 Changes | |||||
Code 3 has made the decision to discontinue the
Dome Packaging that had become an instantly recognizable part of their Fire and
Rescue line and image. The new Packaging will consist of four parts, first a new
full color outer Collector’s Box. On opening the box you will find two Styrofoam
end caps that are in place to protect the new hard plastic display cover with a
black snap-easy
Base. The base also incorporates the new KEY LOCK system similar to that on the
2003 FDNY Seagrave Squad set and Jack Daniels Freightliner of the same year.

The first release for 2004 comes in the shape of a Tanker. The ALL NEW
TOOLING for the Club Members Truck will be a Pierce/ Freightliner Tanker
with an Eliptical Tank that bears a striking resemblance to
the Jacksonville Fire Department Tanker. Who knows it maybe a future release,
but no word on that yet from Code 3 Collectibles.

FDNY makes its first appearance of the year
with a three piece set, a Mack CF Pumper E-82, Mack CF Tower Ladder L-31, also
the fire house which is located at 1213 Interval Ave, in the Bronx. Engine Co.
82 was immortalized by Dennis Smith, a retired New York City firefighter. He
stayed in the Fire Department an additional 19 years after the success of his
first book, Report from Engine Co. 82. He is the author of 11 books including
three other bestsellers about firefighting. Mr. Smith founded Firehouse Magazine
and has become an outstanding spokesman for firefighters nationwide.
Report from Engine Co. 82 is the story of one company of New York firefighters battling unimaginable death and destruction every day. Dennis Smith worked as a firefighter in the South Bronx of New York City, and the graphic detail and gripping prose of this firefighting classic drives the most important, accomplished, terrifying book ever published on firefighting. With over two million copies in print, this book struck a nerve within the nation when it was first published thirty years ago. In our troubled times, it gains even greater resonance for those trying to make sense of the deaths of so many New York firefighters on September 11 and for those inspired by the tireless work of firefighters and other rescue personnel in the aftermath of the destruction.

March 2004 | |
In this month we see two casts that have been used before and for the same fire department, Orlando Fire Department, FL. Changed their paint scheme from White over Red (which was represented by Code 3 in June of 2001 with a Sutphen Pumper E-2 and a Sutphen Tower Ladder L-2) to Black over Red in 2002. Now Code 3 is brining you the Sutphen Pumper E-5 and Sutphen Tower Ladder L-9 in the striking new colors. This will not only appeal to the Orlando Fire Department Collector, but the Black over Red Collector too |
