Plan-B Toys, known for their Military figures plus Emergency - First Alarm Figures now brings you figures from the movie Ladder 49 to be released by Touchstone Pictures on October 8 2004 http://ladder49.movies.go.com/main.html . Exclusively licensed for the film, the figures are of three main firefighters Captain Mike Kennedy (John Travolta), firefighter Lenny Richter (Robert Patrick) and firefighter Jack Morrison (Joaquin Phoenix) with a second figure of John Travolta as Chief Mike Kennedy. The models premiered at the Firehouse Expo 2004 in Baltimore this summer and last week at the Comic Con 2004 convention in San Diego. I was lead to believe by a member of the Plan-B staff that the figures are only available through Plan-B Toys and are going fast; I was told once they’re gone they’re gone. Each figure bares a likeness to the real actor’s image and comes with add on parts plus authentic uniforms from the film. Each model at the Comic Con show was $10 including tax, online prices may vary.

Update July 28, 2004 -

I received this note from Chris with Plan-B Toys...

The price of the figures will be $11.99 on our web store. The price at Comic con was a special deal for the show. The figures will be available at some comic books shops who ordered them from Diamond Comics Distributors. They will also be available at select
fire collectible shops and at our regular online accounts such as bigbadstoystore.com and voyagertoys.com.
Thanks,
Chris

Also on display at the Comic Con 2004 convention in San Diego were the classic figures and uniforms of GI JOE with the release of the Timeless Collection. These sets are of the original GI JOE dolls and uniforms; for us fire collectors it brings the re-release of the Crash Crew, 40th Anniversary Set due in August 2004. With an ARP of $34.99, I think it will find its way into many of our collections.

Some exclusive NEWS…Dusty Trail Toys known for their highly detailed military figures told me at the Comic Con 2004 that they are looking into making Fire and Rescue figures plus law enforcement officers from real departments across America and maybe a series from around the world. This has not been set in concrete as of yet, however, I was told they are looking at a winter 2004 to spring 2005 release date. If the fire personnel come out as good as their military models we are in for a treat. I got a couple of the gulf war figures that come with a stand and back drop for only $8 each. Stay tune to www.Fireengines.net for an exclusive look at the pre-production samples in the future. If you have not seen the Dusty Trail Toys take time to visit their website listed above.

Below are examples of their current products; Two Gulf War 2003 figures and a British SAS Officer.
