I hate to be the wet blanket, but the car shown in the beginning of HSB (#7911) was actually a 1976 Dodge, former Chicago Police car. It was a leftover prop car from the Blues Brothers movie. Did you know the show was supposed to take place in Chicago but after the movie was released, the city did not like how the CPD was portrayed and refused to let HSB production use the official logos, patches or markings of the Chicago Police or city skyline. Production company changed the light domes to red and the car markings to METRO POLICE

That being said, the model looks great.

Great looking Hill Street Blues squad car - can hear the theme song in my mind as I enjoy your pictures. A number of us would gather to watch the program each week in our seminary days in St. Louis.

Nice work. Stripping and repainting adds a lot of work but the results are worth it.

As for the Sparta cars from the heat of the night, the door shields are generic enough the Microscale sheet might just work.

I always remember little things like this as well. Car that is always on my mind is the Caprice's from "In the Head of the night".... With Greenlight's new caprices coming, It might be worth taking the time to make one soon.

From the category of "why do I remember these things", here is one of the police cars from the opening credits of that great multi-Emmy award winning 1980s TV show "Hill Street Blues." The model started as the Illinois SP cruiser from "Blues Brothers", which I stripped, repainted, and finished off to replicate Unit 7911 from the show. Lightbar is from the GL model and decals are from InQuarters. Definitely a fun build!
