General Collecting Discussion • Hi guys returning member

Hello all!

I have rejoined the forum after about I think almost ten years away. I was a member back when the late and great Mike Adam’s was with us and Code 3 Collectables was the mainstay.

I’m a UK member, was military, then firefighter then returned to military for a lot longer than I planned hence my absence. But I am now back to a much more normal life.

Mike Adam’s did some kitbashes back in the day, tow of which I still have, LACoFD Engines 8 and 208.

I come back to a very different world, a very different collecting world and a lot of people I do not know!

Since I was last here life has played a number of blows, but that’s life, and makes us who we are and one thing I have learnt, is it’s strong to open up and talk, especially us guys, regardless of where in the world we are from.

So he,lo everyone, names Jarod, a Pom, and my first qu3stion if I may.. is it actually possible to kitbash and re-decal the PCX Brekina FDNY models?

I am a big fan of this company. Bruce, the owner is a real gentleman as well. They have announced two new models for 2025 one being a Ford Coupe in New South Wales Highway Patrol markings. These cars were very popular back in the 1970’s for traffic enforcement.

The second release is out of left field. It’s a heavy rescue truck with all the bells and whistles. The first release is the Australian state of Victoria’s State Emergency Service (SES)

A chassis very popular in Europe for its all-terrain capabilities. Criticized in the States for its use of single tires at the rear.

Fire Replicas have announced the release of the Dodge for their Emergency TV series line. The photos they have of the production model shows a very impressive model.

These are great models. The recent uptic in higher end 1/64 models abounds. And we are better for it. The attention to detail on these is impressive. Each of the 4 models are distinctly different. There are 3 different push bars. 2 different light bars. 3 different wheel choices. What is to complain about. Well the wait was excruciating and I didn't get my complete order. And when compared to other 1/64 models they are pricey. The regualr NYPD, LAPD and black are all limited to 799 pieces. Chase NYPD Auxilliary is just 5% of the run so about 120 pieces.

A kit version would be awesome. My only wish is that they made a version with no side trim.

With these GOC and 596 my modeling juices are flowing a little freer than they had been.

I posted these photos on my Facebook page, and they took it down. Sort of killing the joy of the hobby over there. I am not the only one either. Our hobby is supposed to be fun. The Transit van was a work of fiction, but just this week I see that they have one. My decal placement is a bit off, but not enough for me to do it over. The Silverado is my own doings as well.

A new to me brand MK Miniatures is releasing a 9th generation or GMT800 series Chevy Suburban. It hs been done before but mainly very toy like or as in the Jada highly customized. This looks good. But as a civilian model with sunroof and roof rails, we will need to do some work to make it a special service vehicle. Like many recent models in sandbox scale, they are coming out of China and have a high level of detail. Price is about $30 now.

I will get a couple to see what I can do to them.
