today I received the last "in series produced "Ashton Model . Gerhard Klarwasser has finaly stopt( after 36 years of building ) making fire truck models . he has made more then 121 models , quite an achievement for a one man business ( his wife Liz also did a lot of work packing and shipping ) I think it is a sad day . there are now only a very very few companies left making fire truck models. gone have Athearn/Code 3/ Conrad/ Corgi/ DeHanes/First Gear/ Matchbox/Signature/TWH/Yat MIng and a lot more smaller producers.the firereplicas models are superb but not always affordabel for many of us , I live in Europe and shipping and tax increase the price to pay for a model to such a level that I no longer am willing to pay the price ( even if it is an spectacular nice model ) it would be nice to have a company produce some new models from rural areas that are relatively simple to produce , it has not always to be a perfect model .
Chrismas time is coming , I hope Sante will listen to my wish .

I also got my Ashton recently - indeed a sad day for those of us who have collected Gerhard's models. I always looked forward to his flyers in the mail and enjoy my Ashton collection immensely.
