Matchbox Land Rover

Some of you may remember, a few years ago, I ran decals for the old Matchbox Land Rover fire engine. I ran a contest here on FireEngines.net forums, and gave out the decals for anyone that wanted to participate in making some Matchbox customs. Only a few guys responded. I never finished mine. I had painted up three bodies. I finally finished this one up today. Its just basic restore techniques. Drilled out the chassis mushrooms and took it apart. Drilled out the mushrooms for the windows/roof light assembly. Stripped it, and repainted it. As most that you find these days, the roof light was pretty rough. I sanded it down a bit, and polished it and the windows. Decals, some detail painting and put it back together. I bought some replacement roof ladders, and installed one. I ran several versions of the decals, in several colors.

I liked these challenges for the meets. I did one in white and yellow. NO photos of the yellow but here is my white.

Of course your detailed one looks so much better. I went with the original MB look without. I also used the door decal to make a Land Rover in a MB theme.
