Inspection Photos of Engine 17 and 113
Late in 1970 Ward LaFrance built seven 2000/500 GPM engines on a Ambassador cab for Chicago, each division in the city received one of the large engines. With the 2000 GPM they could supply more lines and carried 3.5 inch boat hose.
The rigs carried shop numbers D372 through D377 and were assigned to Engines 8, 22, 49, 73, 106, 113, and 129. These rigs ran front line from 71 to the mid 80’s and became shop spares. In 1990 these engines were refurbished by Able Fire Equipment using a Ranger Glider 4 door cab and the rear compartments were E-one. Able was the E-one dealer in the Chicago area.
Only 6 of the 7 were refurbished. After the engines were refurbished they were assigned to Engines 122, 69, 113, 46, 14, and 34. The engines continued in service for a few years. Engine 34 lasted the longest until 1998.
Engine 113 SOLD OUT in 5 days, Engine 17 is about to sell out. Don't wait to get your very own engine 17.

Looking spectacular! Nice to see more from the past. I wonder why hard suction is not usually carried on top of the cab like these engines did.

Re: Inspection Photos of Engine 17 and 113
Just got my Engine 113 and it is awesome. However I'm a bit disappointed in the quality. When I looked at the front of the engine I noticed something was not right. I realized the front grill was sloped down on the officer's side and the officer's side headlight sloped down towards the engineer's side. On the pump panel on both sides a white outline of a decal (or pad print?) is clearly visible. On the officer's side it is kind of in the shape of the Big Dipper. On the pump panel it runs in an odd shape around the entire panel. Mine must have been made on a Monday, otherwise, this is a great model.

Contact them. I am sure they will resolve the issues.

Re: Inspection Photos of Engine 17 and 113
I don't want to be a nit-picker but before I contact them, I was wondering if anyone else received an Engine 113 or 17 with a white outline on the pump panels. The grill and headlight being slightly off is probably a one timer but I wonder if the white outline is on all the models. I put arrows in the pictures showing the white outline. On the front of the engine if you compare the number 113 with the grill you will see the slight drop to the officer's side.

All of those issues are definitely noticeable. With the reputation for exacting quality FR has, I'm sure they will resolve the issue. I just hope this isn't a sign of things to come, a company just churning out rig after rig hoping nobody will notice and just suck it up. For the price they are, I certainly wouldn't. And we all know, our little fading group of collectors are sticklers for quality and detail

Re: Inspection Photos of Engine 17 and 113
I did compare mine, what you see on the stainless steel pump panels both sides is the out line of the decal for the gauges. I would show this to Nichols just so they can learn about decals on Stainless Steel in the future.
For the front end I would agree the grill is slightly skewed again these are hand made so something slightly skewed can happen. You really should just contact Fire Replicas.

Looks like the wrong kind of decals, maybe some kind of sticker? I will have mine in a couple days and will advise
