Still don't get it...

I absolutely LOVE the detail on the Fire Replicas models, but I can't make myself want one of the aerials... because the parts don't move.

Am I a model snob? Did I get spoiled by Code 3, TWH, et al?

Now, a disclaimer. I do have a couple static-ladder pieces in my collection. But they've always troubled me. < That's a first-world problem, isn't it. Troubled by particular collectibles!

I feel the same way especially with the price they want. I realize cost rise but we use to get Diamond Plate issues from C3 with moving ladders, removable roof ladders, rollup doors, roll-up windows and a lot more detail for what Fire Replicas is charging.

I am right there with you. Buying one of their pieces is pretty much a year's hobby budget for me.

I have a few. But I am selective in my acquisitions. I can see how the static ladder could be an issue for some. The fact is I don't pose my ladders in the raised position so it doesn't matter. But it is the rescues amd specials that i go after any way.

I don't think your a model snob. The moveable ladder is not a issue for me, my collection is mainly made up by the engines, rescues and the vintage series. The few ladders I have are awesome looking.

There is no doubt the detail's on these trucks is outstanding, and the accuracy 100%, and the price is out of range for a large number of collectors. Like anything we collect, price is the real driver on what you will get.

I just hope we continue to see the demo type trucks, I have had a blast converting those to something else.

I guess I still don't get why the lack of the ladder moving is a problem. It's not like your going to be moving the ladder every day? or anything. Don't let that little detail stop you from having one of the best models you'll most likely ever have in your collection. The non moving ladder, not only provides better scale parts and details, it also stops people like me, from breaking little pieces off. (little tip lights on the code 3 ladders).

Everyone has their own preferences. Whether I'm going to move the ladder once a day or once in my life time, I want them to move. I do like to pose mine with ladders up, extended and turned out

The only way I will even consider a purchase from Fire Replicas is that it isn't a remake of a previous Code 3 release, and its an older apparatus from the 40s, 50s and 60s, and from cities other than New York, Chicago, L.A.. I don't mind ladders that don't move.
