In 1976, the nation's bicentennial was all the rage. Many police agencies were adding little patriot stickers to their vehicles to honor the USA's big 200th birthday. The IL State Police didn't want to feel left out, so they created this red, white and blue reflective striped version of their normally brown and yellow marking theme and and sent one of these cars to each of their state-wide district stations to be used for public relations purposes. The ISP purchased Plymouth GranFury sedans in 1976.
For this model I used the 1/18 die cast 1974 Dodge Monaco "Dukes of Hazzard" model. I scratch built the TwinSonic light bar and the scale markings were created by the man who who did the decals for the restored version of the car.
