So This Happened!!

A couple weeks ago gravity proved it was a law. My display of PA State Police Cars and Customs fell off the wall. Most of the models suffered some damage. Other were simply destroyed. Every custom had some sort of damage. I am gutted. I haven't done any modeling since. Replacing the PSP models will be costly and take some time.

That sucks, sorry to hear?

In hopes others can avoid such a problem how was it attached to the wall? I usually use 3” screws to hold my cases up.

I concur- That SUCKS! We had a similar thing happen while we were on vacation a few years ago. Two 8 foot shelves of assembled LEGOs star wars ships had collapsed onto a shelf of Hess Trucks which then collapsed onto an HO train layout. All I could do was stare for a long while then I walked out, shut the door and didn't go back in the room for over a week. Still piecing the LEGOs back together after almost 4 years.

IN the end it is my own fault. Because I paid A LOT of money to have the walls finished, I didn't use the screws into studs I had done in previous residences/displays. So i used heavy duty adhesive fasteners. You can see some still on the case. I almost removed it early this summer to replace with an Ikea cabinet because it was getting full and the 1/43 don't let the door close and latch. But decided to wait. DOH.

Yes I do. :)

I think the sand box scale ones will be duplicated and not repaired. The PSP Trooper only cars, well that is going to be tough to replace some like the Charger.

Nooooo... That‘s why I never trust those adhesive stripes, especially with such „precious“ load on. Allthough I hate to drill holes into walls, screws are still the most reliable choice for me!

So sorry for the damage to your PA model collection. Know some of those will be hard to replace. A long time ago I learned not to trust those adhesive stripes. Wishing you the best in repairing and replacing.

Had a similar thing happen although it was not with something coming off the wall. It was an award plaque slipping and hitting my '37 Seagrave tillered aerial and sending it to the floor! It was like watching something in slo motion and not being able to do anything about it. So I did just what you did. Shut off the light and went upstairs. When I finally got enough courage and go back and look I was able to find all of the pieces and over time put it all back together again.
Do the same. Let things slide for a while and then one at a time put all the pieces back together. It can be done. ;)
