Re: Jacksonville E-27 in 1/25 scale
The wheel mounting on the Trumpeter frame is real flimsy and the wheels wobble too much for me. So I cut the axle off, shortened it a bit and made some new axle ends that would allow the front wheels to turn and at the same time be rugged for the large model. I also cut the frame and lengthened it about 12 scale inches to match the 194" wheel base of the Enforcer. I made the axle pieces from brass stock, soldering them together to form a smooth radius point. I cut about 3/16" out of the center of the axle, then put it back together so that the tires would still be inside the wheel well openings. The frame was spliced together with strip brass and the gap filled in with plastic strip and sheet stock. I also had to lengthen the rear driveshaft and did so by cutting away the center part and replacing it with a brass tube of the right length. The frame will have to be repainted once all of the changes are complete.

Great work. Some fantastic thinking here to make the model work.

Re: Jacksonville E-27 in 1/25 scale
Here's an update on progress. A lot of work went into changing the ALF interior tub to get it to look more like it was done by Pierce. Some things were scratch built and others like the cluster of butterfly switches and gages in front of the steering wheel came from other sources. There are still some SCBA bottles to make and get them mounted in the four seats in back plus the officer's ride. A first coat of primer was also put on the outside of the cab. The inside is painted flat black. An AC unit needs to be built in and two reinforcing posts will extend from the interior tub to the top of the cab.
I also got the front steering completed. The axle was a bit too long so 3/16" was cut from the center. It was glued back together with two reinforcing strips, one on top and one on the bottom. Painted up they blend in ok. The steering knuckles are made of soldered brass stock. The axles will be cut off with the wheels held in place with a small washer and screw. The tie rod is also soldered brass tubing. The axles were lined up straight and then the tie rod ends were soldered to the rod. Bolts are #90 and will be cut off.

The interior tub is nearly finished but needed still are two curved braces that extend vertically to the inner roof. The cab still need some tweaking but the opening for the grill has been cut to show the radiator behind where the grill will sit.
Also added to the interior is the AC unit. Some small air vents, etc need to be added to the upper cab at the windshield.

Re: Jacksonville E-27 in 1/25 scale
Work continues on the interior door panels. The Pierce website has some great information on what the entire interior looks like. A complete virtual walk around if you will. There are still two panels to complete so they look like the ones inside the cab.

Re: Jacksonville E-27 in 1/25 scale
Got a little paint on the cab finally. The glass is in and the interior door panels have been set. Paint is Duplicolor bright red #398. The grill has been painted with gloss black and then Alclad II. I'm going to try another one using a bright blue gloss instead and see what the difference is. Held in the clamps are two scene lights that will to where the white dot is at the upper rear of the cab side.
