Here's a bit more. I got the body basics done today and will move on to the next step of cutting out the body sides for the roll up doors. The model measures just a tad over 15 inches from front bumper to rear step. It should be 15 inches on the nose to be exact scale length but it's long by a couple of scale inches.

The body needs to sit down just a bit to be at the same height as the cab. That can be adjusted by the shims that sit crossways on the frame.

The pump panel unit will go between the cab and body but it can't be done until I get details of the panel for gages, dials, discharges, switches and the like.

The body sides will be cut out so that roll up doors can be installed inside. On the outside will be trim and the lift handles. A similar door needs to be installed at the rear.

Wow, such neat work cutting out those door openings! Just careful knife work? I have trouble with cutting out the thin frames around the openings, but yours look great! Masterful!

Cut out rough with a dremel and cutting wheel. Then with a cutter real close to the lines. Xacto knife to cut the corners and then a sanding stick to get the edges straight. I used the cutter real close but not over the line. The sanding stick removed the little bumps and ridges left by a hand held cutter.

Here's a shot with a pump panel in place. This is the Trumpeter panel made up with some Bare Metal Foil and a touch of a Molotow pen here and there. It is not the panel that will be used for the final build but it shows a little of what the completed rig will look like. The body has been primed and sanded once. It will get another coat and then a final sanding before applying the color. The roll up doors will be done separately. Once that is all done the orange/yellow striping will be completed along the sides. Alternate red and yellow strips will decorate the rear of the body. There are a ton of lights and gadgets to put there as well, and then there is the overhead ladder rack that flips down to a reachable height for the crew. That detail will be done with brass for strength and to obtain a more scale thickness.
