Oshkosh T3000
Thought I would get started on this project. Been wanting to do it since the last Code 3 piece was released. It started as a Waukegan piece. It was taken apart, stripped and sand blasted. New skin for the sides was made from .20 styrene. The rear windows, built in side flood lights, and one of the door latches were filled. I glued sheet styrene behind the holes I wanted to fill, and then filled them with plastic strips held in with liquid glue, and them pressed down with a clamp while the glue was still wet, resulting in a gooey mess that filled in all the crevices. Trimmed with a razor blade, and sanded with a sanding stick cut at an angle. Next up, putty and primer.

Oh I bet this will turn out great. I've always wanted to cut one of these up and make a T1500 some day.

Re: Oshkosh T3000
Hard to believe that was over 2 years ago. Once I finished the body, it was primed. The primer didn't seem to go on all that well. Then disaster struck. The paint reacted with the primer. Both the same brand, same type. So it went in to the stripper, which ruined the plastic and the filler I had used. Then it sat. Once I get discouraged, I let things sit and move on to something else. This past week, I got the body back in the sand blaster, and got it ready for new filler. I used glued Evergreen strips pushed in to the holes that I filled. You cant see it in the pictures, but there are two filler strips under the new side panels as well. Those filler strips are .015 Evergreen, and the new side panels are Evergreen .020. The exterior ribs are on the new side panels now. All that is left before primer, is some filler touch up and final sanding.

Looking good.
I've been wanting to cut one down to a 1500, but I have no idea where to start.

Re: Oshkosh T3000
I did a T1500 many years ago, but sold it. I am going to do another one next year, so I will do a follow along here. I may run some decals for a US Navy version of the T1500. There are plenty of them still in service, and some nice looking ones too.

Re: Oshkosh T3000
I have started the decal process. Normally I would do this after I get it put back together, but there are too many parts that I could break off with all the handling it takes to decal it. The blue around the 5 and 6 does not have white under it, and it gets really dark. So I am going to run the numbers again. Once this model is done, I will include the Bangkok decals with an upcoming Oshkosh sheet. I still have a long way to go. I broke the stem off of one of the wheels, so I will fix that by gluing the stem in place, then filling the wheel with two part resin. I am surprised that we didn't see more of these kit bashed back in the day. They were, and still are plentiful.
