MENARDS 1:48 SCALE 1956 FORD COE PUMPER
Ran across this from Menards, a 1:48 scale 1956 Ford COE diecast pumper. SKU 2759008, price $6.00. Strangely lettered as "Ladder 17". Looks like the making of a good kit bash.

I saw these popping up on ebay in the HO trains section. (i search for fire engines). None of them referred to it as Menards. It looks like a nice truck especially at that price.

Wish it was HO scale! Looks like it has great possibilities. Wheels and tires look great!

Re: MENARDS 1:48 SCALE 1956 FORD COE PUMPER
I got one to strip for the parts box, then decided to "toy" with a way to use the rear body for something more realistic. A quick modification that doesn't need the "shops" at full capability. Parts are Don Mills items from the parts box. The giant gold prints came off easily with non-acetone nail polish remover & didn't disturb the paint. Still need to detail the cab, including finding a decent revolving beacon for the roof, mirrors and siren. The idea is to represent an old rig redone by the department shop in the late 60s/early 70s as a master stream rig. I will probably keep the ladders & paint them silver, then figure out inlets on the rear body panel, & grab handles.

Just a few adjustments left. Looks OK for a toy detailed with parts box fodder.
