Boston Engine 4

Boston E-One.
Like many larger cities when a contract is done with a Fire Truck manufacture the city is trying to get as many trucks they can at a fair price, this may mean the trucks are simple for the task they are going to perform. Not to many extras unless the station crews add something on that does not impact the warranty. So you don’t see a lot of extra bells, sirens, rot rays, Mars 888 and so on.

When you first look at the Boston Engine it is kinda plain, built by the cities specs, however this truck does have a lot of character. First that deep dark red catches your eyes and really makes the white graphics standout even more. The word Boston curves perfectly with the e-one grill, the bumper designed for a front intake and the LDH sits neatly in it’s tub. The Q2 siren also sits back in the bumper keeping it protected. I loved seeing the TYPHOON logo on the door as wells the hinges look like hinges on the doors, that a welcome improvement to Fire Replicas models. As you work you way back to the pump and discharge panels you have to love the stainless steel used, the pump panel decals look great for the gauges maybe one of the sharper panels so far. The crosslay’s in the normal Boston sequence and the detail on the nozzles really stands out. The deck gun/multiverrsel combination has some great detail to it. Yellow lines outline the deck around the deck gun and water/foam fills. The corrugated hard suctions details also stand out. This engine like Chicago’s E-one compartments are all painted including the trim outline, which I am noticing more on other newer trucks around the county. What’s great about this truck is there are no hose bed or cross lay covers which means more details with the lines and nozzles. The decals on the rollup doors curve well and you can see the ribs of the doors on the side and back, excellent job on getting the decals soft enough to do that!. The truck has a lot of stainless steel parts which enhances the detail and beauty of the Dark Red.

This replica is just as amazing as other Fire Replicas model’s, in fact because of the real trucks uniqueness it required more detail parts. Awesome job Fire Replicas, cant wait to see the Boston Ladder. Don’t wait if your sitting on the fence, I am sure as the word, pictures get out and people see the models these will sell out.

I was in Boston once and visited Engine 4, since they have one of the new Typhoons, I took a chance to renumber mine to Engine 4, it worked out ok, remember InQuarters did a Boston decal sheet, just one word of caution the rear rollup is all one decal, thank god I picked 4. I just had to cover the 1, it’s little of center, however I have a 1 of 1 Boston Engine. From pictures I have seen I need to find a horseshoe for the grill, I am hoping someone can explain that.

Sean Olson does it pass for Engine 4?

I haven't worked down there in quite awhile, but upon first glance it looks pretty spot on! I know in both their previous pieces (KME & Pierce) they had both the horseshoe on the front grill & a large decal of the company patch on the window behind the chauffeur. Not sure if it's now on that rollup door or not. Next time I'm in that area I'll have a look. Looks great though! Great job!
