Massport mini rescue

Post by JoeO » Wed Aug 22, 2018 8:30 pm

This is my first bash using another 1/50 scale model with a Fire Replicas. I was looking over a Miami-Dade PUC and realized I could use the body to create a mini rescue.

I had this 1/50 scale 1st gear Dura Star cab, I figured it could be the base cab and chassis for the Mini Rescue. I stripped down all the paint from the Miami-Dade using testers dried paint solvent remover, and got down to the resin, from there if was a prime and paint job. The color is Dupont 7760 Fire Engine Lime/Yellow. Once painted I was able to join the cab with the body and put the parts back on.

Nothing fancy just trying some different things. Decals are from InQuarters (Boston Sheet). The truck also went back in the Fire Replicas Display case.

A thing of beauty. I like the technique for removing the top coat. I will have to try this.

Does itwork to remove tampos or is it because this has a wrap on it?

Very nice, Joe O! Do you have a picture of the real truck or is this from your great imagination?

That's really cool. Love it.

I wonder if there is a similar box somewhere that would lend itself to a type-3 conversion.

Yes I used it on the First Response Replicas to remove Tampo's again carefully so you don't get any paint. The Miami-Dade was a wrap so I had to use it all the way around.

Mark, not a real truck for MASSPORT, I used the Ventura County Light and Air truck as a reference point. I wanted to use these decals from Rich, the size is right on.

It could be, I am holding off on bashing one for now, hoping we could see one down the road from Fire Replicas you never know.
