Coming a long very nicely! Great looking truck. Can't wait to see the final product. I'm going to be very jealous

Thanks for sharing

I solved the problem of having to paint the trim around the windshield that I was sort of dreading. A sharpie really works! Not only did the trim need to be black but so did the edges of the windshield glass. Holding the sharpie on its edge I just followed around the trim and it coated the glass in a nice smooth line. BTW the trim is a piece of small solder wire that bent easily and evenly all the way around. I tacked it in place with some CA and then very carefully went around the whole thing to seal it well. Then the sharpie went to work.

Well that was easy, the styrene gods were smiling on you! Nice progress on the cab, proportions look bang on, and now the decorating begins, the chrome work will add a lot, can see it already! Pretty amazing what you have accomplished so far, all from scratch, congratulations!

Thanks, Bob. Some things have been a challenge. Latest one is to get the headlight buckets right. I got a full set from Daniel Gailloux but he had run out of the plated ones. So I painted them gloss black and then Alclad II. They came out ok but fitting them to the cab became a problem because of the curve of the corners. They got modified with an additional curved base and re-shot with black. Waiting for that to cure so I can apply the Alclad again. I did start on the striping and decal work. Lots of it but nothing I haven't done before. More shots soon!

A bit more done, this time the front bumper using some strip brass, 0.030" Evergreen sheet stock and some Don Mills Hobbies treadplate. Also worked on are the headlight bezels for the front of the cab. They needed to be curved to fit the corner radii of the cab so using a boiling water technique, a piece of sheet stock was curved to the proper radius and used as the base for the modified bezels. They are painted gloss black in anticipation of a final coat of Alclad II chrome.

In the photo above the sheet stock has been clamped to a piece of the PVC pipe used to form the cab corners. That makes the inside radius of the sheet stock the same as the outside radius of the pipe and in turn the same radius as the cab corners. Pieces of the curved sheet stock were then glued to pieces of flat sheet and then glued to the bezels that were first sanded flat. The PVC pipe has a higher melting temperature than the sheet stock so it holds its shape while the sheet stock softens.

The Sharpie work looks great. Really brings the windshield to another level.

The more I check out the drawings, the more I see that has to be done. In this case, 18 LED bezels for warning lights. four special door latches for the outside and four folding steps. So with some masters, some mold making RTV and some two part resin copies were made for what is required. Bezels and latches will be plated with Alclad II and the steps will get a coat of bright aluminum.

The resin has begun to set in the small cup. Pours have been made of the door latch and steps pieces. When they completely cure they can be removed from the mold. Cleanup is minimal when the surface of the mold is swept clean of excess resin.

Saying WOW is an Understatement ! ! !

I love what you did for the steering axle. Those resin parts you are making are fantastic. Not enough can be said as to your modeling skills :o

You exemplify what "model building" is. Almost anyone can build a model kit whereas you are "Building" a Replica Model. Awesome 👍👍 job.

Keep bringing us more ! ! !
